Valentine’s Day is all about celebrating love so whether you’re single, loved up or ‘it’s complicated’, why not try something new this year? 14 February does not have to be a stereotypical celebration with chocolate, flowers, and stuffed teddy bears, so take some time to read our 6 Wellness Tips for Valentine’s Day and have some fun this year!
1. Celebrate the most important person in your life: YOU
Is there anything better than self-love and positive affirmations that you’re doing a great job? Regardless of your relationship status, the relationship you have with yourself can be wonderfully fulfilling but is quite often overlooked or neglected. Take time out to really pamper yourself with a massage, a beautiful bouquet of flowers or simply finding the time to laugh, smile and dance. Amber Clarke from Miracle Mindset Coaching says that the key to loving others is celebrating yourself. "Why not start by writing yourself a letter congratulating yourself on some of your greatest achievements, big and small? Think of this as a love note to yourself. A chance to pat yourself on the back and congratulate yourself for all the hard work you have done," says Amber. Valentine’s Day can be a wonderful reminder to celebrate love in all its forms, why not start with you?
2. No Valentine? No Stress

If you’re single this year or in a complicated relationship, Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be a romantic celebration of love. It can be a great day to show all the important relationships in your life some love. Take your friends for dinner or spend time with cherished family or people that truly make you happy. As Amber says, relationships in all their forms can be key influencers of your behaviour and success. " Friendships are important because they provide us with healthy social interactions that help us grow as people. Family provides us with a sense of security and love that we might not have been able to find anywhere else. Colleagues can provide a friendly competition that helps our creativity flourish. As such, it's important to keep these relationships strong and celebrate them even on V-Day!" Amber explains.
3. Look after your HEART…Exercise!
Exercising with your significant other, a friend or family member can be a healthy and enjoyable way to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Go for a walk together, try a yoga class or hit the gym with your favourite workout buddy to show your body and especially your heart some love! Get those endorphins pumping by doing something healthy and fun with the person you love.

4. Unplug and unwind
We all know how much time we spend on our screens can have a detrimental effect on our health and relationships… anyone else checked their daily screen time report? Yikes! Make Valentine’s Day your digital detox day and put down the phone, turn off the tv and spend time with your significant other giving them your undivided attention. As the saying goes, ‘Presence is the best present.’ You don’t need to spend lots of money or plan grandiose gestures of your love, simply being present and sharing experiences together can truly connect you with those you love.
When it comes to putting the device down, Amber couldn't agree more: "The more we are online, the less we are present. In this age of technology, it might seem difficult to separate from your virtual self and experience the world offline. But it is possible to have an amazing Valentine's Day without being glued to your device. It is important to be present with your significant other on the day of love. The internet is a treasure trove of information when looking for creative ways to plan romantic days. From clever date night ideas, to romantic dinner recipes, there are plenty of ways for couples to share quality time together and be present without their device. Device down, good loving times up!"
5. Nourish your body
Going out for dinner and eating lots of chocolate sounds like fun but why not try cooking together or trying out a new recipe that’s healthy and nourishing for your body? Cooking and eating a heart-warming meal together definitely improves the taste of food and the experience will leave your tummy and heart full – it’s a win win!
