Mangosteen Juice by Natures Goodness will provide you with an everyday source of potent antioxidants, which will help to protect the body of free radicals and oxidative damage. A tropical fruit grown in Southeast Asia, the Mangosteen is sometimes referred to as being the ‘Queen of Fruits’ which is reported to reduce the effects of aging and promote health. It is the most concentrated source of a group of antioxidants called xanthones.
The Mangosteen is grown mostly in countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines where it is a widely used part of the local diet. Much of the Xanthones found in the fruit reside within the outer skin. Extracts from the outer skin of the Mangosteen have traditionally been used to help accelerate the healing process of minor wounds.
It has been known for quite some time that compounds that are found in plants have antioxidant benefits – just one of many reasons why people are actively encouraged to eat more fruit and veg. Xanthones, found in high concentration in Mangosteen fruit, seem to provide very robust levels of protection against what are known as free radicals (free radicals can damage cells within the body).
The Mangosteen also contains other compounds such as catechins, proanthocyanidins and polyphenols. These compounds often have a bitter taste, but we have listed their benefits to highlight how important it is to the body to consume them:
- Catechins – these are more commonly found in things such as green teas, and they are polyphenol antioxidant bioflavonoids. This means that they display cardio and chemoprotective effects.
- Xanthones – one of the strongest antioxidants that have ever been discovered, with chemists having identified over 70 different types to date. They are extraordinarily effective free radical scavengers
- Proanthocyanidins – commonly found in grape seed and grape skins and have been found to support vascular health.
