Unsweetened apple juice has some amazing benefits, other than tasting great, there are studies that suggest the polyphenols in apple juice can help reduce the oxidation of LDL[1]. On top of this, these same polyphenols help reduce oxidation of colon cells. This can help maintain a healthy colon[2]. Raspberries contain a good amount of vitamin C, K and B groups. They also contain minerals like potassium, manganese, copper, iron and magnesium. Raspberries also contain some of the highest ORAC values when compared to similar berries[3]. Mint has many traditional uses that are only now getting looked at with modern science. Some benefits may include; Improved digestion[4], reduction in lactate during exercise[5] and we see benefit in reduction of frequency and severity of coughs[6]. Other than the good amount of Vitamin C found in Lemons, there’s anecdotal evidence to suggest that they help the body with oxygen uptake. This can assist in people with respiratory issues and improve cardio function during exercise.

With 42g of carbohydrates per serve, this shake would be ideal first thing in the morning or as something after a run.
