Evening Primrose Oil by Blackmores is a formula developed to deliver a rich source of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) to maintain the body’s GLA levels.
Low levels of GLA have been found in women with pre-menstrual syndrome, and in adults and children with atopic eczema, giving this formula the potential to possibly aid in the reduction of the symptoms of these ailments.
Atopic eczema, also known as atopic dermatitis, affects some 800,000 plus Australians, with nearly 30,000 suffering from severe forms of the skin condition.
Atopic eczema is characterised by intense discomfort and often pain, accompanied by a near-constant irritation and itchiness in some cases, not to mention the aesthetic issues that can be caused by the presence of this skin condition.
Whether present in children or adults, atopic eczema can cause a multitude of issues, and while there is no cure, there is a suggestion of a link between low GLA levels in the body and outbreaks of atopic eczema. This formula from Blackmores intends to provide a rich source of GLA that may aid in the relief of the symptoms of atopic eczema, although this is not guaranteed.
GLA levels may also connect with symptoms of premenstrual syndrome, with low levels of GLA also found in those who suffer from PMS, again, the link is not ensured at this stage, but there is potential that this Evening Primrose Oil formula could help.
